Hi.

Well, you’re here now. Take a look around. You know you wanna.

Sing-along

Sing-along

The layout of a “traditional funeral” is pretty much the same every time. You have your denominational differences here and there, but most funeral directors know what to expect. A prayer or poem, a few words spoken by a clergy member or someone in the family, and likely a song or two.

I’ve taken the top three types of traditional families that I’ve served over the years, and picked the top 3 songs that they usually request. I wanted to do something a bit more lighthearted this week, but if you’re a funeral director/mortician and you DON’T have these songs on your playlist at the ready, what are you even doing?

The “Traditionalist Gospel" Family

  1. Take My Hand Precious Lord

  2. Going Up Yonder

  3. His Eye is on the Sparrow

The "I’m not a regular sad, I’m a cool sad” Family

  1. Freebird

  2. Blackbird

  3. On Eagle’s Wings

(Seriously, what’s with all the birds?)

The “I just googled a funeral template” Family

  1. Amazing Grace

  2. Come Away with Me

  3. Somewhere Over the Rainbow

And my honorable mention:

Nothing says I haven’t been to church in years like the 23rd Psalm.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with doing things the traditional way, if that’s what you’re looking for.  I just love seeing personalized services. Helping a family create a memorial that is specific to the person that they are remembering is a special experience. We know you’ve likely never done this before, and we’re here to help.

Every person is unique, and deserves to be celebrated in a unique way, that actually captures who they were, and what made them special.
